give your visitors a flawless experience
So your website is attracting visitors. How to make these visitors happy? Let’s continue with our example to get the answers:
- Mark lands at your diet cookies page. He has a pretty clear idea on what he wants but he needs to know if he can trust the company behind your website. Customer testimonials, the professional design & and the privacy policy of your website assure him the business is solid and trustable.
- Beth lands on your home page with cats in the back of her mind. She is looking for confirmation on her idea of switching to dogs. She sees the link ‘dogs for starters’ and clicks on it. After reading on for a bit she decides to send you an email with own email program because she doesn’t like web forms.
- Maria (who by the way is accessing your website with a screen reader because she’s partially sighted) is looking for ‘nice cookies’. Her screen reader understands the website because it’s written in highly semantic xhtml.
Most important lessons learnt:
- trust = sales: your website should breath ‘realness’ in all possible ways
- usability makes for a flawless experience: all designs elements on your website should make for an easy flow from a to b (through c)
- accessibility matters: opening up your website to disabled people is well worth the effort
